Tom Henke, President and CEO

Tom’s twenty five years of experience has prepared him very well for leading QuickCheck Health.  His background includes 15 years of executive experience having served Medica Health Plans (an independent health plan closely affiliated with UnitedHealthcare) as its:

      •  Chief Innovation Officer
      •  Senior Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Markets
      •  Vice President of Sales and Account Management  

In these roles, Tom had overall responsibility for the Medica’s largest segment representing  1 million commercial members and over $2 billion of revenue.  He was responsible for all segment strategy and tactics including product design, product management, sales, underwriting, account management and administration for employers of all sizes.  He successfully launched many new products in many new markets and delivered market leading growth.      

Tom has an MBA in Finance from the University of St. Thomas and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Minnesota.   

Matt Mesnik, M.D., Chief Medical Officer

Matt is an accomplished Healthcare Executive with 25 years of healthcare management experience. He has a reputation for bringing innovative solutions to market, leveraging technology, strategic partnerships, practice management, and leadership. He has a breadth and depth of expertise in multiple disciplines, along with demonstrated ability to execute strategic and tactical plans, and has produced consistently strong financial and quality results.

He is an emergency physician and was the emergency department medical director at Midway Hospital in St. Paul, MN. There he deployed the first emergency department voice recognition dictation system and opened the first chest pain evaluation unit in Minnesota.

He went on to serve as the urgent care medical director for Aspen Medical Group, a 10 site, 180 provider, multi-specialty group in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. During this time he deployed an electronic prescribing solution as well as a voice recognition dictation system.

Matt went on to become the first Chief Medical Officer of Aprima Medical Software, an electronic health records and practice management software company. At the same time he cofounded Express HealthCare, a state-of-art urgent care clinic, where he continues to provide patient care.

Most recently, he served as the Chief Medical Officer of MinuteClinic, the originator of retail healthcare with over 500 clinics in 25 states. He led the overall delivery of high quality clinical care to MinuteClinic patients, and served as a member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the organization. MinuteClinic utilized evidence based clinical care guidelines to deliver a
consistent high quality patient care experience. He oversaw the clinical supervision for more than 2,200 Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, as well as over 300 physicians and nearly 2 million patient visits annually.

He continues to consult for several health IT and medical device manufacturers and has published articles on electronic health records and urgent care medicine.

Paul Maloney, Electrical Engineering

Paul Maloney asserts over 30 years of superior technical experience in the design, testing, and validation of microcomputer-based medical device products. From defining and managing R&D activities to establishing FDA and ISO design controls, Paul has become an experienced and innovative leader in the industry. By specializing in “concept to completion” product design, Paul is able to ease clients into the rigor of state-of-the-art medical device development. Combining his technical expertise with his progressive project management skills, he coordinates diverse teams in the creation of comprehensive product solutions that satisfy technical, regulatory, manufacturing, and sales objectives. His innovative approach has led to many enduring client relationships and successfully delivered projects. Paul previously worked as Vice President of Product Development at Vasamed, was Vice President of Engineering at Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc and currently manages a medical device design center in St Paul MN (www.solutions-eng.com). He also possesses a BSEE from the University of Minnesota.

Matt Leyden, Mechanical Engineering

Matt Leyden is a mechanical design engineer with 22 years of product development experience and three years of software development experience,  He holds a B.A. in mathematics from the University of St. Thomas and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Northwestern University.  Since 2005, Matt has been an independent design consultant, designing implant and instrument sets for the orthopedic industry.  Prior to his current position, Matt was the product development manager at Alexandria Research Technologies, LLC, an emerging company in the orthopedic industry, and the Engineer manager at Worrell Design, Inc.  Where he managed projects and designed products for clients from many industries.  Matt spent the first 10 years of his engineering career at Lockhead Martin designing rugged electronic equipment for the department of defense.  Clients: 3M, Inc.  Medtronic, Newleaf Design, Denver Instrumental Company

Travis Murphy, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Murphy has over 25 years experience as a senior financial executive with several start-up and  emerging medical and technology companies. In addition to providing leadership in finance and accounting, administration and human resource management, Mr. Murphy has been instrumental in the development of long-range strategic plans and forecasts, raising both private and public equity financing and securing debt financing to support development and growth of several businesses.

His experience includes PriceWaterhouseCoopers, ADC Telecommunications, BioMedicus and Diametrics Medical.

Mr. Murphy is a certified public accountant (inactive) and received his B.S in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and MBA from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. 

David Johnson, Vice President of Operations

Dave has over 30 years experience in executive, operations and management training positions in rapid growth medical device organizations, directing growth domestically and internationally with products ranging from consumer based disposable commodity items to class III implantable devices.    His experience includes executive management, training, product development, business development, regulatory and quality assurance, operations, supplier development and technology acquisitions.  Prior to becoming a medical device consultant, Dave was President & CEO of Spring Forest Qigong, co-founder and VP of Operations at Epitek, Inc., and was a co-founder and President of Timm Medical Technologies. He also held positions including Vice President-Operations/Technology at UroHealth/Imagyn, Vice-President Operations at Dacomed Corporation and various technical, operations and training positions at American Medical Systems and Pfizer Corporation. He also holds a number of patents in the medical device field and the exercise fitness industry.

Nancy Henke, Vice President of Marketing & Administration (Founder) 

Ms. Henke’s background includes nine years as a publishing executive and small business owner, having published Lakestyle Magazine and seven years in sales and account management.


She has a B.A. in Speech Communications from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. K. James Ehlen:  Dr. Ehlen is currently the Chief Executive Officer of RespirTech a medical device manufacturer based in Minnesota.  Dr. Ehlen is a seasoned business executive with extensive experience in clinical medicine, managed healthcare, healthcare system management and the medical device industry.

Before RespirTech, Dr. Ehlen served as Chief Executive Officer of Epien Medical. Prior to that, he served as chairman for Halleland Health Consulting - a leading Minneapolis-based consulting group with expertise in regulatory and compliance affairs, clinical and health system integration, strategy and product positioning and matters of corporate accountability including governance, ethics, and healthcare policy.

Ehlen earned his medical degree at the University of Minnesota and subsequently became board certified in endocrinology.  After service in the United States Army as Head of the Endocrinology Section at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, he devoted several years to private practice before accepting leadership positions in managed care. Mr. Ehlen served as Chairman and CEO of Medica and Physicians Health Plan of Minnesota and was the founder and co-CEO of Allina Health System.  Later, as Chief of Clinical Leadership at Humana, he was responsible for redesigning and restructuring clinical services at all levels throughout the six million member national managed care organization. He has served as a clinical professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota and as an active member of numerous corporate medical and healthcare association boards
